The Honourable Kate Jones
Education Minister Kate Jones today called on LNP candidate for Broadwater David Crisafulli to explain his role in the collapse of failed training provider SET Solutions.
Ms Jones today told state parliament Mr Crisafulli had abandoned the board of SET Solutions weeks before the company went into liquidation.
“Gold Coasters want to know what Mr Crisafulli knew and what he did in his role as director to prevent the company from going into liquidation,” she said.
“What did he do to ensure students were protected?"
Ms Jones said Gold Coasters deserved answers from the LNP’s Townsville candidate for Broadwater.
“It speaks to the character of someone who would cut ties to a failing business without any consideration for the damage they might leave behind,” she said.
“Crisafulli has questions to answer – when did he know SET Solutions was going under and how many Gold Coasters were caught up in the fallout?
“The candidate for Broadwater knifed the sitting MP Verity Barton in preselection and now he thinks he can waltz into a safe seat by keeping Gold Coasters in the dark about his chequered past.
“This is a slap in the face to Gold Coast voters by the LNP.”
In Parliament today, Ms Jones said the LNP candidate for Broadwater resigned as director of SET on April 1, 2016.
“David Crisafulli cut and run because he knew exactly that the company he was a director of was going into liquidation,” she said.
“This is a man who cuts and runs — it speaks to the character of the man. He cut and run in Townsville.
“He cut and run in this business. It’s someone they think is fit for Parliament.”
