Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services
The Honourable Cameron Dick
International speakers sign on for eHealth Queensland Expo 2017
An inspiring line-up of nationally and internationally-renowned digital health experts has been confirmed for what will be an action packed eHealth Queensland Expo on 17 May at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane.
Health and Ambulance Services Minister Cameron Dick will be joined by keynote speaker Amanda Stevens, one of the most dynamic and creative thought leaders in Australia, who has spoken at over 800 conferences in 14 countries about consumer behaviour and connecting in a digital world.
Last year’s keynote Chris Riddell, a futurist and award-winning speaker on digital, is returning as compere.
Mr Dick said the high calibre of speakers confirmed the event’s growing reputation and was a reflection of the critical role digital innovation played in the healthcare sector.
“Digital innovation, built on modern and dependable ICT infrastructure, is now vital in modern healthcare,” Mr Dick said.
“Digitising healthcare will improve patient outcomes, service delivery and the patient experience.
“Following the success of the 2016 Expo, there was significant interest from across the sector to be part of this year’s program.”
Dr Richard Ashby, eHealth Queensland’s Chief Executive, said they had chosen a diverse range of topics and speakers who would provoke creative thinking, discussion and action – from digital hospitals to artificial intelligence and genomics.
“Different to most conferences, our speakers will deliver presentations ranging from five minutes to around 40 minutes, keeping momentum and interest high in a format that proved very popular at the inaugural event in 2016,” Dr Ashby said.
“We’ll also have a number of panel Q&A sessions, with delegates able to engage through an event mobile app.
“We also have some fascinating services and innovations displayed and demonstrated as part of the tradeshow which delegates can attend at various times throughout the event.”
Other speakers will include Department of Health Director-General Michael Walsh, Australian Digital Health Agency CEO Tim Kelsey and Chief Medical Officer for Elsevier Clinical Solutions, Dr Peter Edelstein, from the USA.
Tickets and sponsorship spots for the expo are selling fast and are expected to sell out.
