Deputy Premier, Minister for Transport and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning
The Honourable Jackie Trad

Congratulations Mark McGowan and WA Labor

The Palaszczuk Government has congratulated Mark McGowan and WA Labor on their decisive victory in yesterday’s Western Australian election.

Acting Premier Jackie Trad said that she was looking forward to working alongside Mr McGowan and his government.

“I would like to extend my wholehearted congratulations to Mark McGowan and his team on their fantastic result in yesterday’s election,” Ms Trad said.

“I wish them all the best for what lies ahead and look forward to working with them to advance core Labor values of fairness, equality and the dignity of work in Northern Australia.

“West Australians chose a united Labor team that was focussed on delivering local jobs and transitioning the economy over the divisive personality politics and dodgy deals being peddled by the Liberals and the National Party.

“What is clear from this emphatic result is that Australians are rejecting the politics of division and fear that have plagued other Western nations in recent years.

“This should serve as a clear warning to Tim Nicholls and the LNP that people will not accept politicians who are more focussed on doing sneaky preference deals than on actually delivering for Queenslanders.

“I call on Tim Nicholls and the LNP to walk away from dodgy preference deals with One Nation.

“I also call on Pauline Hanson to retract her calls for Queensland to lose our fair share of GST funding to other states around the nation which would rip $1.6 billion out of our economy.”
