Deputy Premier, Minister for Transport and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning
The Honourable Jackie Trad
Palaszczuk Government delivering for Queenslanders
The Palaszczuk Government has been making a real difference to Queensland communities, delivering a stronger economy and more jobs.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Jackie Trad today outlined some of the achievements delivered over the past two years.
“In the two years since the Palaszczuk Government was sworn in we have achieved a lot in planning and infrastructure,” Ms Trad said.
“We delivered the first State Infrastructure Plan after more than three years without one – and backed it with a $2 billion State Infrastructure Fund.
“Our State Infrastructure Fund is delivering more infrastructure sooner, especially in regional Queensland.
“It means more roads, more bridges, more rail upgrades, and more community infrastructure – driving jobs, economic productivity and community well-being.
“Most recently, we have begun rolling out our new Works for Queensland program - $200 million targeted program to regional areas with high unemployment.
“This means more jobs where Queenslanders need it the most.”
Ms Trad said the government had listened to the community, councils and stakeholders to deliver better planning laws throughout the state.
“We’ve passed new planning laws, to streamline development and jobs, without compromising the community’s right to have say,” Ms Trad said.
“We’ve delivered a new South East Queensland Regional Plan to provide a fifty year vision for the region – a project that was in the too hard basket under the LNP.
“We are also progressing the first North Queensland Regional Plan, which will go out for public consultation later this year.
“And we joined with the Federal Government and Townsville City Council to deliver Australia’s first City Deal.
“The Townsville City Deal is focused on job creation, economic growth and investment in local infrastructure.
“I am proud of what we’ve achieved over the past two years and am committed to keep listening and delivering for Queenslanders no matter where they live.”
