Minister for Housing and Public Works
The Honourable Mick de Brenni
A $1.3 million government led housing project that will deliver accessible homes for residents of Keperra is set to begin with construction carried out by Brisbane-based builder Batir Construction.
Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni said the six one-bedroom unit development was part of the Queensland Government’s $100 million investment in building new, modern housing across Queensland.
“This Government is one hundred percent committed to delivering safe, secure and affordable homes for vulnerable Queenslanders - like women and children escaping domestic violence, people with disability and seniors,” Mr de Brenni said.
“I welcome quality, job creating, government-led projects like this because we want to support the 15 tradies that are expected to work on it.” he said.
“Our pipeline of housing construction work is supporting business that employ thousands of Queensland tradies on building jobs right across the state.”
Member for Ferny Grove Mark Furner said the investment would help those people who needed a little extra assistance to stay in the local community.
“Modern homes like these, close to transport and services, will help locals to live securely and enjoy a good quality of life – especially in their senior years,” Mr Furner said.
“I know our government is committed to delivering housing, and that our developments will deliver new homes, built to high standards of accessibility, making it easier for people to get around.
“In particular the three ground units include features like wider hallways, level thresholds, grab rails and extra clearance spaces for easier access by seniors, folks with mobility issues and people with disability.
“We’ve got an aging population, like most communities so homes like this on the northside are an important investment in the social infrastructure of our State,” Mr Furner said.
