Tourism and Major Events Minister Kate Jones thanked Mr Stephen Gregg for his service to Queensland tourism following his resignation as Chair of the Tourism and Events Queensland Board today.
Minister Jones said Mr Gregg had a long and distinguished career in Queensland tourism spanning more than 40 years.
“I thank Mr Gregg for his long service to the industry and his support for tourism and events in Queensland, he has played a leading role driving the industry in our state,” she said.
“As Chair of Tourism and Events Queensland, Stephen broke new ground and oversaw the creation of the new organisation, bringing together the former Tourism Queensland and Events Queensland.”
Ms Jones said Mr Gregg had made a multifaceted contribution to tourism, working in industry and government throughout his long and successful career.
“Mr Greg made significant contributions to tourism in Far North Queensland, serving as chair of Tourism Tropical North Queensland and CEO of North Queensland Airports Limited,” she said.
“On the Gold Coast, he served as CEO of Dreamworld and Whitewater World theme parks.
“And he also served as CEO Tourism Queensland and as Managing Director of the Northern Territory Tourist Commission.
“Mr Gregg also chaired the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, representing the state’s tourism industry in dealings with government.
“I would like to thank Stephen for his hard work for Queensland and wish him all the very best for his future.”
