A range of road improvement projects will be rolled out across the state as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s Safer Roads Sooner program.
Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey said the $37 million Safer Roads Sooner initiative provides funds for road improvement works across Queensland.
“These works are all about maintaining the safety of motorists on the state’s road network. As an added bonus, the road projects are providing jobs for workers at a time when jobs and jobs security are more important than ever,” Mr Bailey said.
Mr Bailey said drivers travelling on the Kennedy Highway would benefit from more than $1.3 million in road improvement works to enhance safety.
“The road shoulder will be widened along a section of the Kennedy highway, between Mareeba and Ravenshoe, with new signage and line marking at the McKell Road intersection.”
“As part of this funding, $315,000 will be spent reconfiguring the intersection of East Evelyn Road and Sluice Creek where the curve in the road will be widened and upgraded,” he said.
Under the Safer Roads Sooner initiative, 54 new projects are being undertaken across Queensland, with works to be carried out within the next two years.
