Premier
The Honourable Campbell Newman

Gold Coast to host next Community Cabinet

The Gold Coast has been selected as the next destination to host Community Cabinet on the 23 and 24 March.

The two-day event is the thirteenth Community Cabinet held in regional Queensland, following sessions in Goondiwindi, the Fraser Coast, Cairns, Townsville, Kingaroy, Toowoomba, the Whitsundays, Ayr, Thursday Island, Gladstone, Emerald and Tully.

Premier Campbell Newman said he was excited to bring his Cabinet to the Gold Coast to hear firsthand from residents and businesses about the issues that matter at the local level.

“The Gold Coast is often seen as the tourism gateway to Queensland,” Mr Newman said.

“We have seen a bumper season in tourism over the festive season and I have no doubt this will continue as we work hard to grow this important pillar of the Queensland economy.

“But we know there is much more to our iconic Queensland hotspot than tourism and I’m looking forward to listening and consulting with everyone on all topics and in all areas of the Gold Coast.”

Mr Newman said Community Cabinet is also a great opportunity for locals to take their concerns directly to the decision makers.

“This is a unique opportunity for local residents, organisations and businesses to sit down with relevant Ministers and be heard on local issues,” he said.

“I encourage everyone to consider registering for a meeting on the 23rd of March.”
