Birth certificate receives royal approval

Buderim twins have become the first babies to receive their special birth certificate, commemorating the birth of Prince George of Cambridge.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie today presented little Ivy and Phoenix Bowman with their new mementos.

“Prince George’s birth was an important day in our history and the certificates will be a special keepsake that they can keep for the rest of their lives,” Mr Bleijie said.

“We announced plans for the certificate when the Prince was born and I’m pleased to say it has now received royal approval.”

Ivy and Phoenix’s mum Lauren said the certificates marked a special point in history.

“It’s exciting to know that they share their birth year with the future king and that they’ll be growing up with him,” she said.

“Ivy and Phoenix will be able to look at their certificates one day and know that they were born at a special time.”

Mr Bleijie said the commemorative certificate will be provided on request and at no extra cost when parents of babies born in 2013 apply for their official birth certificate.

“This certificate is available for all children born this year and more than 400 proud parents have already registered their interest,” he said.

“Being able to take home a small memento will make it a little more special for Queensland families welcoming their bundle of joy to the world in 2013.”
