Gladstone Police delve into the blogosphere

Gladstone police are moving into the digital age with Queensland Police Service officers launching myPolice Gladstone this afternoon.

Police Minister Jack Dempsey said the blog will boost interaction between Gladstone police and the public by giving officers another portal to keep the community informed.

“The blog has a range of features to keep the community up to date at all times,” Mr Dempsey said.

“Through the blog, police officers are able to share crime prevention tips, information on personal safety, keeping property secure and show comfit images or stills from CCTV to a wider audience.”

Mr Dempsey said myPolice Gladstone joined a number of blogs released across the state including Marybourgh, South Brisbane, Bundaberg and Rockhampton.

Assistant Commissioner Mike Condon said the launch of myPolice Gladstone provided an exciting opportunity for police to engage with residents of the Gladstone region at a digital level.

“Our police officers work hard to address crime and this blog has been produced as an additional tool to assist us to engage with the Gladstone community,” Assistant Commissioner Condon said.

“myPolice Gladstone will strengthen bonds between the community and police, adding to the fantastic job police already do.

“The immediacy of communication through the blog will allow officers to target crime and gather community feedback at a grass roots level which can only assist us in the fight against crime.

“The site should be seen not only as an investigative tool but as a community engagement opportunity for officers and the public to build upon.

“I would encourage everyone who lives in the area to visit myPolice Gladstone and share your thoughts.”
