College board positions confirmed

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry John McVeigh has appointed a new board member and Deputy Chair positions to the Emerald Agricultural College and Longreach Pastoral College Boards.

Mr McVeigh said a vacancy occurred in the newly formed Emerald Board when member Tony Robinson was appointed to the role of College Director.

“Mr Robinson’s position on the Board will be taken by Michelle Hanrahan,” Mr McVeigh said.

“Ms Hanrahan has been the Chair of the Fitzroy River and Coastal Catchments Inc. board, as well as having led its Finance, Risk and Succession Sub-committees.

“Her areas of expertise include project management, community consultation, training, workplace health & safety, contract management, property management, land acquisition and cultural heritage.”

Mr McVeigh also announced the appointment of Deputy Chair positions for both Colleges.

“The Emerald Agricultural College Deputy Chair is Christine Rolfe while Longreach Pastoral College welcomes Richard Pietch to the position,” he said.

“Both Ms Rolfe and Mr Pietch have substantial agricultural and community service backgrounds.

“Christine holds the position of Agforce Treasurer while Richard has been a Director of Queensland Shows for 16 years and is a Board member of the RACQ.

“I welcome the appointment to both Boards, which are concentrating on reinvigorating the colleges and ensuring they meet local industry expectations.

“Agriculture is one of the four pillars of the Queensland economy and the Newman Government is committed to delivering the best possible training outcomes in this area.”
