Minister for Police and Community Safety
The Honourable Jack Dempsey

Construction of a multi-million dollar replacement ambulance station in Kingaroy is only months away, Community Safety Minister Jack Dempsey announced today.

Mr Dempsey said $1.5 million would be spent building the replacement Kingaroy Ambulance Station this year.

“The replacement ambulance station on Edward Street ensures paramedics have the best equipment available to help them respond to local emergencies,” Mr Dempsey said.

“The Newman Government is working to ensure frontline staff are not saddled with out-of-date facilities and have what they need.

“The works in Kingaroy are just a fraction of the $51.4 million the Newman Government plans to spend on ambulance stations and vehicles over the 2012-13 financial year.

“The State Government will spend a total of $3.6 million to complete the ambulance station by December 2013.

“Queenslanders deserve to have the best emergency services available and these upgrades will help ensure frontline staff have the support they need to continue providing outstanding services to the community.”

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington welcomed the investment in the region.

“These new facilities will ensure Kingaroy is not left behind when it comes to emergency services,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“Ambulance officers in our region do a fantastic job in often challenging situations and I support the Newman Government’s commitment to supporting frontline emergency services officers.

“The State Government has recognised that Kingaroy is a growing area and is already preparing for the future needs of the region.”
