The Honourable Mark McArdle
There is still time to claim the State Government’s Solar Hot Water Rebate following the closure of the program last month.
Energy and Water Supply Minister Mark McArdle said eligible applicants still had two weeks to get their Solar Hot Water Rebate system installed.
Applicants who purchased or paid a deposit on a solar hot water system or heat pump before close of business on 22 June 2012 have until Friday 27 July 2012 to have their system installed.
Mr McArdle said more than 35,000 rebates worth about $26 million had been paid to eligible Queensland residents since the Solar Hot Water Rebate started payments on 1 July 2010.
“The Government’s decision to end this rebate was to ensure Queenslanders do not pay twice for climate initiatives. Queensland tax payers will be slugged significantly more by Canberra through Labor’s carbon tax, which came into effect on 1 July this year,” he said.
The final installation date was set based on the time it usually takes to have solar hot water systems installed.
To receive the Solar Hot Water Rebate, applicants must submit their correctly completed application form and supporting documentation by close of business on Friday 28 September 2012.
Applicants can call 13 43 87 or visit wwww.cleanenergy.qld.gov.au for further information about the requirements, and to download the current guideline and application form.
