The Honourable Simon Finn
Building Industry Minister Simon Finn today inspected progress on the $2.9 million upgrade of the Calliope Police Station in Central Queensland.
Mr Finn said the upgrade of the police station on Bloomfield Street, which is being project managed by the Department of Public Works, was running to schedule.
“The upgrade will provide Calliope with a new police station on the site of the existing police station,” Mr Finn said.
“It will provide the local police service with up-to-date facilities to best serve the community.
“The main structure of the two-storey building is complete and the roof sheeting has been installed and external wall cladding and internal fit-out are about to commence.
“The project is well over halfway complete and it’s good to see it is on track to be completed on time and on budget.”
Mr Finn said the Calliope Police Station upgrade was supporting 13 local building jobs.
Northbuild Construction Pty Ltd is the contractor for the project.
The upgrade of Calliope Police Station got underway in April 2011 and is expected to be completed in December 2011.
