Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations
The Honourable Cameron Dick
Sunshine Coast welcomes new Public Trustee regional office
The Sunshine Coast’s growing population now has easier access to the valuable services offered by the Public Trustee thanks to the opening of a new regional office.
Attorney-General Cameron Dick, who officially opened the new regional office at Birtinya (near Kawana) today, said the $600,000 building also provided vital jobs for the local economy.
“The Public Trustee’s new regional office is part of the Bligh Government’s Toward Q2 commitment to create a fairer Queensland, by providing local residents with better access to services locally,” Mr Dick said.
“The Birtinya location was chosen after extensive research into the area, including information from the Government Statistician’s Office about the region’s growing population of seniors.
“These residents will find it easier to use the Public Trustee’s services such as the free will-making service.”
Mr Dick said the new Sunshine Coast regional office had room to expand to meet the future needs of the growing region.
“In addition to our new Sunshine Coast regional office, the Public Trustee’s Nambour office will remain open and visits to Caloundra and Noosa will also be introduced, to better serve the community.
“With 16 regional offices throughout the State, the Public Trustee prepared 24,000 wills for Queenslanders free of charge last year alone.”
The Public Trust Office provides Queenslanders with a range of trustee services including enduring powers of attorney, administration of deceased estates, financial administration for adults with impaired capacity, and a free will-making service.
