Minister for Tourism and Fair Trading
The Honourable Peter Lawlor
More than $33,000 will go to a Burnett community group in the latest round of community benefit fund grants from the Queensland Government.
Minister responsible for gaming regulation Peter Lawlor today announced the latest round of Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund recipients, saying the much needed funds would go to a good cause.
“With interest rates on the rise, and Queenslanders still in recovery mode, these funds are vital to community-run groups,” said Minister Lawlor.
“Community groups go out of their way every day to make a difference within their local area, and these grants are just one way of acknowledging their tireless efforts.”
The Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund uses a percentage of state revenue raised from gaming activities to offer grants of up to $150,000 to assist community organisations in the South East Queensland area.
Since its inception, in excess of 3,300 applications have been funded, totalling more than $84 million.
Last year the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation introduced an online grants management system, which allows community groups and not-for-profit organisations apply for funding via its website.
“The new process is part of our efforts to reduce red-tape, and it’s been working well,” said Minister Lawlor.
