Minister for Police, Corrective Services and Emergency Services
The Honourable Neil Roberts
Police Minister Neil Roberts, Member for Mansfield Phil Reeves and Deputy Police Commissioner Kathy Rynders today officially opened the recently refurbished Upper Mount Gravatt Police Station.
Mr Reeves welcomed the boost to community safety in his electorate.
“This upgraded facility will provide police with the modern resources necessary to service Upper Mount Gravatt and surrounding suburbs, focussing on local issues for the community,” Mr Reeves said.
“As the local Member, I will continue to listen to the community and ensure police resources keep up with growing demand in our area.”
Mr Roberts said the $4.3 million facility would accommodate a number of functions including general duties, criminal investigation branch, scenes of crime, traffic branch and police liaison officers.
“Upper Mount Gravatt is one of the fastest growing hubs in the Metropolitan South Region, so it is essential that local police have the resources they need to serve this thriving community,” Mr Roberts said.
“Today’s opening of the refurbished Upper Mount Gravatt Police Station is a reflection of the Government’s commitment to supporting the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and creating safer communities throughout Queensland,” he said.
“The recent upgrades to the station demonstrate we are planning ahead and catering for growth by meeting the needs of the district now and into the future.”
Senior Sergeant Stephen Hollands is the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Upper Mount Gravatt Police Station, and has been for the past two years.
Deputy Commissioner Kathy Rynders said Senior Sergeant Hollands had many years of experience with the Queensland Police Service.
“Senior Sergeant Hollands brings a wealth of experience to the station,” Deputy Commissioner Rynders said.
“He has had 27 years service with the QPS, including over 12 years experience as a criminal investigator.
“The upgrades to the Upper Mount Gravatt Police Station will strengthen the foundations for a strong relationship between the Queensland Police Service and the local community.
“The station is a modern facility that will allow the QPS to continue to protect life and property, preserve peace and safety, prevent crime and uphold the law to the very best of its ability.”
Upper Mount Gravatt Police Station is located at 2132 Logan Road, Upper Mount Gravatt.
