Minister for Health
The Honourable Stephen Robertson
Health Minister Stephen Robertson today officially opened a new 40-bed staff accommodation complex at Roma Hospital.
Mr Robertson said the $13 million complex would provide quality accommodation for hospital staff.
“This new complex is a win for hospital staff and a win for local health services,” Mr Robertson said.
“It will make Roma Hospital a more attractive employer to health professionals.
“The Bligh Government is committed to improving rural and remote health services, and this new staff accommodation complex will help us to do that.”
Mr Robertson said staff commenced occupying the new accommodation in mid-January this year, with funding coming through Queensland Health’s $91 million Regional Accommodation Program.
“This program plays a vital role in expanding and improving housing for health staff in rural and regional communities,” he said.
“We need to attract more health professionals to places like Roma.
“That’s why we’re continuing to invest in better staff accommodation for hospitals right across Queensland.
“This new staff accommodation complex won’t just benefit the hospital’s staff – it will benefit Roma residents who rely on their services.”
