Minister for Communities, Disability Services, ATSIP, Multicultural Affairs, Seniors and Youth
The Honourable Lindy Nelson-Carr
Communities Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr has today announced more than $697,300 in Bligh Government funding for three local organisations, safeguarding local jobs and services.
Ms Nelson-Carr said $255,561 would go to the Lockyer Information and Neighbourhood Centre, $254,244 would go to the Laidley Community Centre, and $185,562 would go to the Emu Gully Adventure Group.
“We know our communities and neighbours are experiencing challenges and tough times, with many people under enormous pressure to look after their loved ones and pay the bills,” Ms Nelson-Carr said.
“Queenslanders may need help to deal with issues they are facing and that’s what these organisations are providing – support and services on the ground.
“These services are diverse, from education and training, financial information, migrant support, and referral.
“They also employ people so the funding is giving job security.
“By equipping people with personal and life skills and ensuring they have access to a range of supports like these, and jobs, we are building stronger, fairer communities for the future.”
These three organisations are among a range of community groups across the state to share in a total of $5.45 million under the Community Services funding program.
