Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning
The Honourable Paul Lucas
Deputy Premier Paul Lucas is calling on Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg to discipline a staff member for a personal website slur on the Premier.
“Politics is a tough game and we play it hard, but that does not mean a personal attack on the physical appearance of an opponent,” said Mr Lucas.
“This was also done in work time. It begs the question: “Is this part of a dirty tricks campaign in an election year as another desperate attempt to take the direction away from policy?
“Was it sanctioned by her boss?
“This comment from a senior Opposition staffer is juvenile and unacceptable.
“If the Leader of the Opposition cannot control his staff how can he control the State’s near $40 billion budget? What action will he take?
“You'd expect this kind of low-rent name calling to come from a sand pit, not the office of the Leader of the Opposition.
“No wonder Mr Springborg says we shouldn't be on a war-footing and denies the impact of the global economic crisis on Queensland when time and again his staff have nothing better to do than to call names.
“We work 24-7 to create jobs and infrastructure while they laze around drinking coffee thinking up their next serve of personal abuse,” said the Deputy Premier.
