Queensland will support the National Day of Mourning for those affected by the tragic events in Victoria with a ceremony at South Bank.

The ceremony will be held from 9:30am on Sunday, 22 February at Suncorp Piazza, including a live telecast of the National Day of Mourning ceremony in Melbourne.

“While many Queenslanders are going through tough times with the recent floods, we have all been affected by the tragic events in Victoria. The event at South Bank this Sunday will give everyone a chance to pay their respects to those who have lost their lives in the bushfires," Premier Anna Bligh said.

“Free bus and train travel to South Bank will be available on the day between 8am and 2pm and people are encouraged to bring a yellow flower for a community display of condolence.

“Let’s send a strong message of support from Queensland to everyone in Victoria who is suffering from this tragedy.”

Premier Anna Bligh will represent Queensland at the national event in Melbourne.
