FREE financial seminars for contractors coming to town!
Queensland building contractors will be given a hand during the current economic crisis thanks to a free state-wide financial education program, Minister for Public Works, Housing and ICT Robert Schwarten announced today.
Mr Schwarten said the advice contractors learn at the seminar could mean the difference between success and failure for their business.
“The economic outlook for 2009 will present building contractors with a number of challenges to overcome and the business decisions made now will be crucial to their business survival,” Mr Schwarten said.
“The Queensland Building Services Authority (BSA) has teamed up with financial experts to develop this program of free financial seminars for BSA licensed contractors across Queensland.
“They will help contractors identify any necessary changes building contractors need to make to their business.
“These financial experts will give contractors simple and practical advice for running a successful business and surviving the current economic downturn,” he said.
Mr Schwarten said the program, which starts in Cairns on 16 February, will combine a DVD presentation with expert advice.
“To further assist contractors, all attendees will also be given the opportunity to have a free, confidential one-on-one financial planning session with an industry expert.
“I urge contractors to attend the seminar in their area.
“The Queensland Government and the BSA are committed to offering this vital expertise and assistance state-wide,” he said.
Dates and locations for the free financial seminars are listed in the table below.
The Premier, Mr Schwarten, and all members of Cabinet will be in Townsville and North Queensland on Sunday and Monday for Community Cabinet.
Contractors can register to attend a seminar near them by phoning BSA on 1300 272 272.
