RM Williams Australian Bush centre to get $450,000 boost
The North Burnett Regional Council will receive an extra $450,000 from the Queensland Government for the RM Williams Australian Bush Centre, Local Government Minister Warren Pitt said today.
Mr Pitt said the funding, on top of the $600,000 already provided by the State Government, would help ensure the project achieved its full potential for the North Burnett community.
“The RM Williams Australian Bush Centre will provide the North Burnett community with a tourism focal point that contributes to the local economy and helps build community capacity,” Mr Pitt said.
“This additional funding will go towards site preparation for the centre as well as delivering enhanced infrastructure to the region as apart of the Queensland Government’s Q150 celebrations.”
Mr Pitt said the centre would include Indigenous and Australian bush crafts as well as a café and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.
“It will feature displays of Indigenous culture, early European history and modern bush life,” he said.
“The centre will be managed by a local management committee which will include community members and Indigenous representatives.”
The RM Williams Australian Bush Centre is jointly funded by the Q150 Legacy Infrastructure Program and the Local Governing Bodies Capital Works Subsidy Scheme.
