LNP insults victims of crime

Acting Premier Paul Lucas today called on Lawrence Springborg to overturn a LNP push to pardon convicted sex offender Bill D’Arcy.

Mr Lucas said he was astounded by media reports today indicating senior Liberal National Party members were actively campaigning for a pardon bid for Mr D’Arcy.

“If this is the best they can do when it comes to law and order, it’s a very sad state of affairs,” Mr Lucas said.

“Mr D’Arcy was convicted as a result of multiple complainants with his conviction being confirmed by the court of appeal.

“This is an insult for victims of crime.

“I call on Mr Springborg to apologise to the victims and pull his party members into line.”
