Queensland green-building consultancy finds perfect match in Singapore
A Queensland consultancy firm that matches environmentally responsible building projects with like-minded construction product manufacturers and suppliers has launched its online database for the Singapore market.
Minister for Trade John Mickel said Trade Queensland was working with Ecospecifier Global in a number of global markets, including the Middle East, South Africa, and India, and the company’s entry to the Singapore market was a significant move.
“Singapore is increasingly becoming recognised as South East Asia’s leader in sustainable building practices,” Mr Mickel said.
“Brisbane-based Ecospecifier Global provides professional sustainability consultancy services and offers access to a comprehensive database of verified and certified sustainable building materials. The company’s databases contain over 5000 green building products.
“The company’s launch in Singapore will have flow-on benefits for Queensland, improving international access to more than 100 Queensland-based manufacturers hosted on their database, in the growing green building sector,” he said.
Mr Mickel said that Ecospecifier Global executives had attended a Queensland Government trade mission to Singapore last September, confirming the company’s great potential to fulfil a valuable role in the clean green Singapore building market.
As part of the trade mission, Ecospecifier Global gave a presentation to some of Singapore’s largest developers and architects at a Queensland Government workshop on sustainable building practices.
The audience included 50 of Singapore’s leading developers, architects and construction industry experts,” Mr Mickel said.
Visitors to the Ecospecifier Global’s new Singapore website – www.ecospecifier.sg - can access a slide presentation from the workshop.
“Trade Queensland also arranged for Ecospecifier Global to meet with representatives of the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) green building scheme named BCA Green Mark, and the Singapore Environment Council’s Green Label eco-labelling program, during the mission,” Mr Mickel said.
“The aim of Green Mark is simple - to get more environment-friendly buildings built in Singapore. It promotes sustainability in building and raises environmental awareness amongst developers, designers and builders when they start project conceptualisation and design, as well as during construction.
“Green Mark evaluates building projects for their environmental impact and performance, and rates the building based on their evaluation, so for Ecospecifier Global to be able to take this first step in working with them and their Green Label associates is also significant,” Mr Mickel said.
Ecospecifier Global Director, Mary-Lou Kelly said that the company, based at Tingalpa in Brisbane, appreciated the continued strong support it had received from the Queensland Government through Trade Queensland
“Without Trade Queensland we would not have been given the unique and innovative opportunities which have opened doors to Singapore as well as the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and most recently India,” Ms Kelly said.
“Trade Queensland’s professionalism, tenacity and support is to be highly commended and acknowledged providing us with introductions that we would never have been able to create by ourselves,” Ms Kelly said.
Ecospecifier Global’s has also recently launched a new international website www.ecospecifier.com
