Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry
The Honourable Desley Boyle

Premier
The Honourable Anna Bligh

Premier Anna Bligh says TechnologyOne will develop SmartCab, the Queensland Government’s new Cabinet Information System.

“As one of six companies that submitted offers earlier in the year, it is great that TechnologyOne, an international software company with its global headquarters and R&D centre based in Queensland, has won the contract,” said Ms Bligh.

The SmartCab system will utilise TechnologyOne’s Enterprise Content Management software solution to make the workflow of cabinet documentation an easier, safer and greener process.

It will provide a secure electronic transfer of information and will particularly benefit regional ministers, eliminating the need for paper documents.

Industry Minister Desley Boyle said that by supporting a Queensland business the government was guaranteeing Queensland jobs.

“Queensland is the ICT capital of Australia. There are more ICT products developed locally than in any other region.

“Not only is this industry a multi-billion economic driver for the state it is also a major employer.

“That is why it is so important during these tough economic times that we support local companies.

“It makes a lot easier however when our local companies are world leaders in their field,’ she said.

Executive Chairman of TechnologyOne, Mr Adrian Di Marco, said it was pleasing to see the Queensland Government partnering with local industry to build new solutions like this.

“We are extremely happy to have an opportunity to work with the Queensland Government on this exciting project,” he said.

“Other government departments and agencies throughout Australia - and internationally - will look at the success of this solution with Queensland Government and it will provide us with the credibility to target this new and emerging market for Enterprise Content Management both here in Australia and internationally.”

“It is great to see it now coming to fruition under Premier Anna Bligh, who has been a passionate supporter of working with the local industry to create opportunities both here and internationally.”

The Queensland Department of Premier and Cabinet is leading the adoption of Enterprise Content Management technology which is often still manually processed in most state and federal departments and agencies.

TechnologyOne has been providing organisations with integrated enterprise software solutions for more than 20 years. The company is one of Australia’s leading publicly listed software companies with offices throughout Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

The new system is planned to be fully implemented by June 2009.
