The Honourable Lindy Nelson-Carr
Moranbah Community Hub is a step closer
Communities and Disability Services Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr has announced a grant of $75,000 for the Moranbah and District Support Service Association to progress the development of a Community Hub for Moranbah.
“The Moranbah and District Support Service Association will use the grant to undertake a stage two feasibility study and help finalise land options and building strategies for the proposed Community Hub,”
“The Moranbah Community Hub would make it quicker and easier for local residents to access the diverse community services at one convenient location.
“Assisting non-government organisations like the Moranbah and District Support Service Association to be as strong as possible means they can continue their essential work,” Ms Nelson-Carr said.
“We want them in a position where they can focus on what they do best: applying local knowledge to find local solutions to local issues.
“Community hubs offer a diverse range of services and information encompassing the needs of families, young people and seniors, as well as other services determined by local groups.”
Ms Nelson-Carr said seven rural community organisations across the state will share Building Rural Links funding of more than $337,000 for projects that build partnerships within the community sector and strengthen local services.
“The Building Rural Links initiative is contributing to the Queensland Government’s Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland vision to create safe, caring communities,” Ms Nelson-Carr said.
“It’s also part of the Blueprint for the Bush commitment to building a sustainable, liveable and prosperous rural Queensland.
“Other successful grant applicants included organisations with programs in areas such as Indigenous issues, youth services, drug and alcohol abuse, and homelessness.”
