State of the art fire station for Kippa-Ring

The new $3 million Kippa-Ring fire station was officially opened today by Emergency Services Minister, Neil Roberts to replace the old Redcliffe fire station.

State Member for Redcliffe, Lillian van Litsenburg said the new facility meant that local firefighters would be better placed to respond to the community.

“Last financial year the local crew responded to 658 incidents, 50 more than the year prior.

“That’s why the station was relocated to a more strategic position – to respond more effectively to expanding community needs.

“Back-up support from the station will also be provided to Deception Bay and Burpengary when needed,” she said.

State Member for Murrumba, Dean Wells congratulated the QFRS staff who work in the Moreton Bay region.

“Our fire and rescue officers are highly trained with the ability to deal with a wide range of emergency situations. They now have a brand new station and state-of-the-art fire appliance to service this community,” he said.

Emergency Services Minister, Neil Roberts said the Bligh Government is committed to helping firefighters do their job.

“We are investing nearly $900,000 to install Automatic Vehicle Locators on QFRS vehicles, in Brisbane and the South-East regions.

“This satellite based technology will help our communications officers to identify the closest appliance to an emergency which is a great enhancement to the current system of radio communications,” he said.
