2009 Queensland Training Awards open for entries
The search for the state's top training achievers has begun, with the opening of nominations for the 2009 Queensland Training Awards.
Education and Training Minister Rod Welford said the awards showcased Queensland’s best employers, apprentices, trainees, vocational students and training providers.
“This awards program is about recognising and rewarding training excellence at every level,” Mr Welford said.
“With demand for skilled workers at an all-time high I’m pleased Queensland is at the forefront in promoting the importance of training and the take-up of apprenticeships and traineeships.
“Winning a training award could kick-start a career, raise a business or personal profile in local communities, boost customer numbers or help spotlight an enterprise as an employer or training provider of choice.
“These prestigious awards are a great way for us to share our training success stories and there are great prizes to be won.”
The awards are first contested at the regional level, with winners going on to compete at the state level.
The state final will be held in Brisbane in September 2009. State winners are then eligible to compete for the 2009 Australian Training Awards, to be held in Canberra next year.
Nominations for the Queensland Training Awards in the employer and organisation award categories close on Wednesday 11 March 2009, while nominations for the individual award categories close on Wednesday 18 March 2009.
