Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
New culverts for Nambour Connection Road
Construction of two new culverts has started at Ferntree Creek on the Nambour Connection Road at Kulangoor, Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt said today.
Mr Pitt said Main Roads construction arm, RoadTek, had been awarded the $1.5 million contract to replace the two culverts.
"Main Roads understands the importance of Nambour Connection Road as a vital link road for the local community," Mr Pitt said.
"The new culverts are 32 metres long and 3.6 metres by 3.6 metres wide and have taken some time to manufacture.
"A high standard sidetrack was built to cater for the 7000 vehicles a day that use this section of Nambour Connection Road," he said.
It is anticipated that the work will be completed and the original road re-opened in early 2009, weather permitting.
On behalf of Main Roads, Mr Pitt thanked the community for their patience during construction.
