Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel
QLD nominees across the board at national export awards
Thirteen of Queensland’s most outstanding export enterprises are competing as finalists across all categories at tonight’s Australian Export Awards, in Melbourne.
Minister for Trade John Mickel wished Queensland’s nominated exporting companies and institutions every success as they vie for national recognition, and the title of Australian Exporter of the Year.
“Queensland’s 2008 Australian Export Award nominees were selected after winning their respective categories at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards in October,” Mr Mickel said.
“These companies are strengthening the economy and taking the state toward it's Q2 targets by providing export leadership for all Queensland enterprises.
“To win at this level against Australia’s biggest and best exporting companies, Queensland will need to perform extremely well, nevertheless I’m very confident we will punch above our weight and put in a strong showing.
“With the world in the grip of an economic downturn, exporting success is even more important for Queensland as a means of contributing to the State’s economy, creating jobs and enabling businesses to bring in the income required to ride out the storm.
These businesses should be congratulated for their effort in these testing times,” Mr Mickel said.
The table below lists Queensland’s nominees for the 2008 Australian Export Awards, and their respective categories. The Prime Minister's Australian Exporter of the Year will be selected by the Prime Minister from the 13 winners of the national award categories.
