Malone Wrong – Again: Ambulance Response Incident in Mackay

Opposition calls today for an inquiry into a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) response in early November at Mackay are a month too late, according to Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts.

“The QAS has already initiated an investigation into this matter with the QAS Area Director visiting the family the day after the incident,” Mr Roberts said.

The Department of Emergency Services referred the matter to the CMC who asked that the Department conduct the investigation.

The Minister emphasised that the family concerned would be kept advised of progress during the investigation.

“This is another example of an aimless Opposition trying to play politics with a family’s tragedy,” Mr Roberts said.

“It would be inappropriate for me to comment further until the investigation is complete.

“I suggest the Member for Mirani should heed this advice to avoid further distress to the family concerned,” he concluded.
