Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
State provides $180,000 to help secure Dalby’s water supply
The Queensland Government has provided an extra $179,881 to the Dalby Regional Council to subsidise the instalment and refurbishment of critical water infrastructure.
Local Government Minister Warren Pitt said the project would help protect the environment and secure future water requirements for the ratepayers of the Dalby region.
“By providing this additional funding we are ensuring that Dalby Regional Council has the appropriate water management resources,” Mr Pitt said.
The funding will cover three projects:
- Dalby desalination ponds upgrade - $57,000
- Kogan Creek – Chinchilla sewage treatment plant - $55,933
- Chinchilla water supply – Kogan Creek camp site - $66,948.
Mr Pitt said each project would add to the Dalby Regional Council’s capacity to manage the full water cycle, from securing water access to sewage treatment.
“This is just one example of how the Bligh Government is exploring every option to ensure that all Queenslanders have access to water,” Mr Pitt said.
The funding has been provided through the State Government’s Water and Sewerage Program, which provides local governments with subsidies of up to 50 per cent of the cost of essential water and sewerage infrastructure.
