Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt

Have your say on proposed works at Kenmore intersection

The community is being invited to have its say on proposed safety improvements at the intersection of Moggill Road and Merlin Terrace in Kenmore, Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt said today.

The upgrade aims to improve safety by restricting all right-turn movements at the intersection, allowing only left-turns in and out of Merlin Terrace.

Mr Pitt said feedback was being sought from the public on the proposed works.

"With about 23,200 vehicles and 314 pedestrians using this intersection each day, it is important that the safety of all road users is maximised," said Mr Pitt.

"The proposed works will include constructing a raised concrete median on Merlin Terrace along with changes to the line-marking and replacing signage to complement the major works.

"Main Roads has also proposed trimming some trees and relocating signs to improve visibility for motorists turning left from Merlin Terrace.”

Mr Pitt said community input was an important part of the road planning process.

“I encourage all community members to get involved and provide feedback on the proposed upgrade," said Mr Pitt.

"This $15,000 project may seem minor compared to some of the larger projects under construction in the area but it will have considerable benefits in enhancing safety at this intersection.”

Feedback on the proposed upgrade closes on 12 December 2008.
