Communities Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr has today announced a peppercorn rent of just $1 a year for a new Early Years

Queensland’s first two Early Years Centres at Caboolture and North Gold Coast (Nerang) will soon give local families access to a wide range of services to improve their children’s general health, development and wellbeing.

Communities Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr said it was vital to support children during their early development years.

“The Queensland Government’s vision is to improve access to prevention and early intervention services to ensure a brighter future for generations to come,” she said.

“The Early Years Centres will offer families a wide range of support services from the one convenient location for children up to the age of eight.”

“Support could include education and care services, family support, health services, plus referrals to specialist or intensive support services where required.”

The new one-stop-shops at Caboolture and Nerang have received a nominal rent of just $1 a year for their new leases.

“This nominal rent will assist the not-for profit centres, run by non-government organisations, to focus on providing adequate, quality early childhood services well into the future,” Ms Nelson-Carr said.

“The services are part of the Queensland Government’s $32 million commitment to establish four new Early Years Centres in areas with high population growth. Other centres will be built at Browns Plains and Cairns over the next two years.

“Parents from all walks of life will appreciate the high-quality services provided by these Early Years Centres.”
