SPECIAL MAINTENANCE FUNDING FOR WARWICK HIGH

Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten today announced more than $50,000 in funding for maintenance work at Warwick State High School.

Mr Schwarten said a recent inspection of the school by QBuild officers identified the need to replace numerous sliding doors in Block H.

“Existing defective sliding doors in Block H will be replaced with new ones,
including all associated works," Mr Schwarten said.

“The work will be completed as soon as possible with every effort being made to minimise disruption to classes."

Mr Schwarten said the funding demonstrated the Bligh Government’s commitment to properly maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of the community.

“One of the Bligh Government’s ambitions for Tomorrow’s Queensland is that our state is smarter,” he said.

“Properly maintaining schools will certainly go a long way in helping to achieve that goal.

“I am delighted that funding from the Department of Public Works’ emergency maintenance fund is available to enable these projects to be completed."

The emergency maintenance fund was developed to complement existing maintenance programs and specifically to undertake projects that arose in the course of the year or that were unable to be completed by the school because of the magnitude of the cost.

QBuild, the State Government’s construction and maintenance division, will manage the project.
