MINISTER FOR WOMEN CONGRATULATES PYJAMA FOUNDATION FOUNDER
Minister for Women Margaret Keech today congratulated Founder and Director, the Pyjama Foundation, Bronwyn Sheehan on winning a category of the 2008 Telstra Queensland Business Women of the Year awards.
Bronwyn Sheehan today received an award in the Queensland IBM Community and Government Award category.
The IBM Community and Government Award category recognises women who are significant decision makers within government, statutory bodies and not-for-profit organisations.
“The Pyjama Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation, provides invaluable reading support to children in care across Queensland,” Mrs Keech said.
‘Through its volunteer ‘angels’ it delivers read aloud programs which assist children in foster and alternative care in Australia.
“Bronwyn’s team of ‘angels’ are committed to giving children in care the same opportunities in life as other children.
“Bronwyn’s organisation provides children with a stronger platform for success through its promotion of literacy.
“Not only do children learn to read but also gain a greater sense of achievement as they learn to read aloud.
The 2008 National Telstra Business Women’s Award winners will be announced in Melbourne in December.
