Minister for Emergency Services
The Honourable Neil Roberts
Support SES by wearing orange to work
Emergency Services Minister, Neil Roberts is urging Queenslanders to support the State Emergency Service (SES) during National SES Week by participating in Wear Orange to Work Day tomorrow.
Mr Roberts said Queensland SES volunteers donate thousands of hours each year to their communities and the distinctive orange uniform had come to symbolise the strength of community spirit in Queensland.
“Over the years the orange uniform has become synonymous with the dedication and commitment of the men and women who wear it with great pride,” Mr Roberts said.
“Wear Orange to Work Day is an opportunity for the community to show their appreciation and respect for an organisation which is always ready to help.”
“Tomorrow, it’s our turn to be there for them and to say thank you.”
Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) Executive Director Frank Pagano said by wearing orange to work tomorrow, the public were supporting more than 6,400 SES volunteers across the State.
“Whether it’s searching for a missing bushwalker, helping residents with storm damage, rescuing someone stranded on the side of a cliff, or assisting at a road accident, SES volunteers are there when their community needs them most,” Mr Pagano said.
