Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt

Traffic improvements on Moggill Road

Main Roads has reached an important milestone on the $34 million Moggill Road upgrade project, switching on the traffic lights at the intersection of Moggill and Pullenvale roads.
Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt said an extra two lanes had also been opened to traffic between the Moggill Creek Bridge and Pullenvale Road.

"Turning on the lights at the intersection of Pullenvale Road and Moggill Road last week was another step towards the completion of the Moggill Road upgrade,” Mr Pitt said.

“Completion of this milestone has improved access and safety for local motorists, as well as helping manage congestion along this stretch of Moggill Road.”

When completed, the Moggill Road upgrade will provide two extra lanes along Moggill Road between Pullenvale Road and Kilkivan Avenue, the duplication of the Moggill Creek Bridge and another two signalised intersections – at Kilkivan Avenue (south) and Rafting Ground Road.

"I would like to thank the local community for their ongoing patience and understanding while we complete this vital project," Mr Pitt said.

"While works continue, traffic changes will be in place, so motorists are advised to drive carefully and follow signage."

Safety is Main Roads' number one priority, which is why a range of works have been undertaken, are currently underway or are programmed to further improve safety on Moggill Road.

Main Roads has been conducting a number of resurfacing works in various locations along Moggill Road at a cost of $1 million as part of the Roads Implementation Program.

In February and March this year, works were completed at the Moggill Road and Centenary Highway off-ramp intersection, providing motorists with a new u-turn facility.

Main Roads has approved the business case to install traffic signals at the Moggill and Birkin roads intersection and it will be considered under the Safer Roads Sooner program.

Also, in June this year, Main Roads completed footpath upgrades worth $720,000 between the intersections of Moggill Road and Princeton Street and Moggill Road and Kilkivan Avenue to improve pedestrian safety.
