The Honourable John Mickel
Get trackside and take in the Melbourne Cup atmosphere at Eagle Farm Racecourse by travelling to and from the event on TransLink train, bus and ferry services.
Minister for Transport today urged those celebrating the Melbourne Cup to take advantage of extra services.
“Public transport really is the best way for people to travel to and from Melbourne Cup celebrations to avoid traffic congestion,” Mr Mickel said.
“You can use the journey planner on the TransLink Transit Authority's website - www.translink.com.au - to help plan your transport to and from where you want to go.
“QR is offering 10 extra rail services tomorrow to get people to and from the Melbourne Cup celebrations at Eagle Farm Racecourse.
“Five extra rail services bound for Ascot station will depart from either Central or Roma Street stations between 10.29am and 12:24pm.
“Another five services will depart from Ascot between 5.38pm and 6.42pm before arriving at Roma Street station.”
Mr MIckel said regular bus services would operate from the Cultural Centre, city and Fortitude Valley bound for Eagle Farm Racecourse.
“Bus stops are positioned near the main gates on Lancaster and Racecourse Roads along routes 300 and 301,” Mr MIckel said.
“You can also take the CityCat to Brett’s Wharf Terminal and give yourself time for a stroll up Racecourse Road.”
