Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister Assisting the Premier in Western Queensland
The Honourable Kerry Shine
Attorney-General Kerry Shine has today announced the appointment of stalwart Queensland legal figure Greg Cooper as the state’s 22nd Crown Solicitor.
Mr Shine said Mr Cooper – a senior legal expert in Queensland for three decades – would take over the position from this Saturday (November 1) following the retirement of current Crown Solicitor Conrad Lohe.
“I congratulate Greg on his appointment to this important and critical role in the Queensland justice system and I’m looking forward to working closely with him,” Mr Shine said.
“Greg has a long history with Crown Law, having started in 1975 as a Clerk in the Prosecutions Branch.
“Since then, Greg has held a number of senior legal and management positions including Executive Legal Consultant, Crown Counsel and Deputy Crown Solicitor.
“He has also worked on significant changes to State legislation and advised on sensitive Commonwealth and State matters.
“He brings a wealth of knowledge and a wealth of experience to the role.”
Mr Shine paid tribute to out-going Crown Solicitor Conrad Lohe, whose retirement will take effect tomorrow.
“Conrad’s departure marks the end of a significant legal career in Queensland.
“He leaves a legacy that may never be surpassed – 39 years of distinguished service to Crown Law and the people of Queensland.
“In fact, he has spent his entire professional life working in the Crown Law Office.
“As a lawyer, Mr Lohe’s work has been characterised by a calm, unflappable wisdom.
“As a man, he has personified integrity, decency and compassion.”
