TAFE Queensland has come home from the annual Australian TAFE Marketing Association Awards in Melbourne with four of the 12 awards in marketing excellence.
Education and Training Minister Rod Welford congratulated the TAFE marketing team for its continuing success at the marketing awards.
“This is a great result for Queensland and shows that we are effectively delivering the message about the importance of vocational education and training options and business assistance,” Mr Welford said.
“The Small Business Solutions initiative, developed by Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE, was announced as the winner of the 2008 Australian TAFE Marketing Association Marketer of the Year.
“Launched early last year, the Small Business Solutions project has assisted more than 600 small businesses, issuing 78 Diplomas of Business and 116 Certificate IV qualifications for Small Business Management.”
Mr Welford said the Small Business Solutions service provided valuable mentoring and support to businesses seeking assistance to grow, or solve a particular small business challenge.
“It isn’t just for struggling small businesses, it also benefits small to medium enterprises (SME) to increase their productivity and bottom line,” he said.
TAFE Queensland’s other winners include the corporate enrolment campaign featuring TAFE’s industry experienced teachers, which was judged the best marketing campaign over $50,000 and TAFE Queensland’s Careers and Employment Expo display, which won the best event over $15,000 category.
Sunshine Coast TAFE’s partnership with Bush TV to deliver nationally accredited training in television and new media to young Indigenous people won the Strategic Partnership Collaboration category for achieving positive commercial business outcomes.
TAFE Queensland’s youth website and online game promoting pathways and options was highly commended in the multimedia category.
“The national awards are keenly contested by TAFE institutes from across Australia and we are proud of our marketing staff for finding innovative and creative ways to promote and encourage vocational education and training,” Mr Welford said.
“Our Government has set itself an ambitious target of having three out of four Queenslanders holding trade, training or tertiary qualifications by 2020. If we are to achieve our goal, it is important that we encourage Queenslanders to take up training and further education options such as those offered by TAFE Queensland.”
