The Honourable John Mickel

Moscow City Government visit will help shed light on export markets in Russia

A visit from a senior Government official from Russia during Export Week, 13-17 October, will help to draw attention to a growing number of export opportunities for Queensland’s businesses in the Moscow region.

Minister for Trade John Mickel said that the high-level visit by Mr Vladmir Lebedev, Deputy Head of External Economic and International Relations for the Moscow City Government, would help to encourage Queensland’s export-ready businesses to further explore Russia as a potential market for their goods and services.

“Mr Lebedev will be the principal guest speaker at an Export Week Seminar entitled Doing Business in Russia, a unique opportunity for Queensland businesses to hear from a senior official from the Moscow City Government.

“Mr Lebedev’s presentation will include business opportunities in Russia, how to best gain entry to Russian markets and how to successfully engage and build relationships with Russian companies.

“His presence will raise awareness of the Queensland Government's strengthening relationship with the Moscow City Government and of Queensland as a leading Australian State exporter to Russia.”

“In recent years Russia has become an important trading partner for Queensland, and I welcome Mr Lebedev’s visit, particularly during Queensland’s export week.”

The Doing Business in Russia seminar will take place from 12 noon on Thursday 16 October and is free for Queensland businesses.
