Minister welcomes appointment of new Parliamentary Secretary

Main Roads and Local Government Minister Warren Pitt has welcomed the appointment of Member for Inala Annastacia Palaszczuk as his new Parliamentary Secretary.

Ms Palaszczuk was formally appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister today by Queensland Governor Penelope Wensley.

Mr Pitt said he looked forward to working with Ms Palaszczuk.

“Annastacia has been a hard-working and valuable member of Parliament since her election in 2006 and her promotion is recognition of her considerable efforts and ability,” Mr Pitt said.

“I have already had discussions with her about her role within my office and have nominated several key areas of responsibility for her to focus on.”

The areas of responsibility include: road infrastructure projects in the western growth corridor; innovation within the Department of Main Roads; local government electoral arrangements; and the Blueprint for the Bush.

Ms Palaszczuk said she was familiar with the portfolios to which she had been appointed.

“As chair of the Parliamentary Estimates Committee that reviewed the Main Roads and Local Government portfolios, I have some knowledge and understanding of the breadth and depth of work that falls within the Minister’s responsibility,” she said.

“I am very keen to get started in the new role and I am looking forward to the challenges associated with it.”
