Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel

Showcase a must for Queensland’s exporters

Trade Queensland will hold an Export Showcase event for businesses to seek out export services and resources on offer from the Queensland Government and its trade allies.

Minister for Trade John Mickel said that the Export Showcase, to be held on 14 October at the Gabba, was an annual event held during Export Week to assist and encourage Queensland’s current and potential exporters.

“It is a free, one-stop trade show for all your export needs and an opportunity to ask all the hard questions about accessing or expanding your company’s export markets,” Mr Mickel said.

“Export Showcase has the answers to the who, what, when, where and why of Queensland’s exporting industries.

“Who are the key export contacts to assist your business? What is the latest intelligence on Queensland’s export markets, and what assistance is available for exporters?

“When is the right time to begin exporting? Where are the market opportunities for your products and services? And why should your company consider exporting?

“This year, the Export Showcase will feature exhibition booths staffed by Trade Queensland’s Trade Commissioners, Special Representatives and market team members.

“Our Trade experts will be available during the day to discuss opportunities in Queensland’s key trading markets including Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, North America, Latin America, Korea, South East Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Russia.

“Queensland Education and Training International and Trade Queensland’s Export Advisory Unit - which provides skills training for exporters - will also host a booth at the expo and representatives from Austrade, Commerce Queensland, the Australian Industry Group, the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC), the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries and other export-focused organisations will also attend.

“Export Showcase presents an opportunity to hear about upcoming events and opportunities that exporters can be involved in to help break into overseas markets. It demonstrates Trade Queensland’s commitment to, and capabilities in enhancing export
opportunities and assisting businesses to expand their global markets,” Mr Mickel said.

Trade Queensland’s 2008 Export Week will see more than 20 separate events held around the State from 13 to 17 October to recognise, assist and promote Queensland’s export capabilities, businesses, industries and successes. Call 3224 4035 or visit
