Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel
Queensland’s top trade reps to share export intelligence across the State in Export Week
Queensland’s regional businesses will be able to tap in to the State’s most relevant and up-to-date export market intelligence during Export Week from 13 to 17 October 2008.
Minister for Trade John Mickel said that a series of high-level visits by the State Government’s overseas trade representatives to regional centres across Queensland would contribute significantly to reaching Trade Queensland’s goal of sharing intelligence and information on export market opportunities with as many businesses as possible during Export Week.
“The Commissioners’ Events Across Queensland program includes ten export events to be attended by our Trade Commissioners in regional centres on Wednesday 15 October,” Mr Mickel said.
“The export seminars will concentrate on presenting locally-relevant information to highlight sectoral and geographical export opportunities for Queensland businesses in their markets.
“Our trade representatives will share their valuable, first hand export experiences and information at events in Rockhampton, Toowoomba, the Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Cairns, the Gold Coast, Townsville and Mackay, as well as at events on Brisbane’s Northside and Southside.
“This will assist by providing regional businesses with a relevant update on key export markets and information on how the Government’s export agency Trade Queensland can assist the State’s exporters and potential exporters.
“This is a prime opportunity for Queensland’s regional export-ready businesses to meet face to face with our top trade representatives and ask all the hard questions about how to take advantage of opportunities to service overseas markets,” Mr Mickel said.
Businesses wishing to attend a Commissioners’ Events Across Queensland event can contact their local DTRDI Regional Centre on 1300 363 711, or Trade Queensland on 3224 4035. Attendances need to be confirmed by 10 October.
