Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry
The Honourable Desley Boyle

Rockhampton is “where it’s at” this week

Look out Rockhampton – a King, the state’s senior regional leaders and Queensland’s tourism decision makers will all be in town this week.

Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Desley Boyle today revealed that Rockhampton would be playing host to several important events throughout the week that had attracted some of the state’s biggest movers and shakers.

“Rockhampton is where it’s at this week – for tourism, for regional development and for industry,” Ms Boyle said.

“Tomorrow morning the entire Tourism Queensland Board, including the organisation’s CEO, will convene to talk about tourism initiatives for the Central Queensland region.

“And following that, we’ll see the King, Wally Lewis, promote the upcoming Rugby League World Cup, which Rockhampton is hosting a venue for in November.

“On Thursday we’ll see the state’s key regional economic development leaders come together for the first time for a major summit to develop ways that will further strengthen regional Queensland.

“These events will showcase Rockhampton to some of the state’s senior decision makers.”
