Treasurer listens to Ashgrove residents at Q2 Forum

Treasurer and Mt-Coot-tha MP Andrew Fraser is expecting to fill reams of his notebook with ideas from residents in the Ashgrove electorate who attend tonight’s Q2 public forum.

Mr Fraser will be at The Gap State High School from 6pm to listen to what residents have to say about the future direction of their area as part of the Bligh government’s Towards Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland forum.

“During my time representing the inner west I have found local residents to be active and informed on a range of issues.

“We are looking to those people to provide some of the best ideas and concepts.

“I am urging residents to speak out. This is your chance to shape the future of your neighbourhood and I want to know exactly how you feel.

“My ears are open to anything and I promise that all ideas will be taken on board and reported back to the Premier.

Mr Fraser said Towards Q2 was about promoting the future of Queensland in five key areas.

“The Bligh Government has identified what we want to achieve by 2020, we are aiming to make our State strong, green, smart, healthy and fair.”

“A great example of this in the Gap area is Sustainable House – a development that seeks to create an affordable residential development that achieves efficiency in energy and water and improved lifestyle outcomes.

“We want to encourage more of this type of innovative thinking in Queensland.’’

Mr Fraser said the Bligh government was consulting with Queenslanders to ensure they played a major part in shaping the state’s future.

Ashgrove MP Kate Jones, who is also attending, said that the Q2 Forums were a great opportunity for residents in her electorate to make their mark on the future direction of their area.

“I know for a fact that residents in my electorate feel very strongly about the direction their area should be heading.

“The Bligh government is committed to listening to them. This is an opportunity to speak, first hand, with the Treasurer of Queensland.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to deal with the government decision-makers face to face.’’

Over the coming months, the Treasurer will be consulting with various electorates about the Bligh Government’s future vision for Queensland.

“We must make real and lasting changes now if we want to shape a better future for all Queensland communities,” he said.
