Minister for Emergency Services
The Honourable Neil Roberts
New ambulance station opened at Carmila
Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts says the new $1.04 million Carmila Ambulance Station will greatly boost ambulance services in the area.
Mr Roberts officially opened the facility at a ceremony today.
“The former Carmila Ambulance Station served the community well for a very long-time,” Mr Roberts said.
“After more than 40 years, the State Government committed to replacing the station at the last election and I’m pleased to see the work now completed.”
Mr Roberts said the new station would allow for optimal service delivery in the area.
“The new station boasts a foyer, multi-purpose room, toilet facilities, office, write-up room, lockers, rest/study room, patio, and a breezeway.
“It also has a three bay plant room to house emergency vehicles.
“It’s a great pleasure to be in Carmila to help celebrate the opening of their new ambulance station. I’m sure it will continue to be a pillar of the community for decades to come.”
Mr Roberts said Carmila was one of five capital works projects the Queensland Ambulance Service aims to complete in the region over the next two years.
"The Bligh Government is building tomorrow's Queensland today - improving services in rural and regional areas.
“Works on a refurbishment for Moura station will get underway shortly. A replacement station for Clermont and a refurbishment for Duaringa are planned to reach completion this financial year, while planning is well underway on a replacement station for Mount Morgan.
“In 2008-09, the Bligh Government has allocated $31.2 million for two new and 21 replacement or refurbished stations, providing state-of-the-art facilities for our ambulance officers.
“We are also recruiting 250 additional ambulance officers and purchasing 145 vehicles. That’s on top of the 255 additional officers and 140 new vehicles purchased last year.”
