Redlands Child Safety workers honoured for their commitment to children
Staff from the Redlands Child Safety Service Centre have been honoured for their dedication and commitment to protecting the region’s vulnerable children and young people.
Child Safety Minister Margaret Keech presented three staff members with Recognition of Service awards during a visit to the centre.
Staff members Margaret Saunders, a Child Safety Support Officer, Court co-ordinator Louise Struys and Child Safety officer Lynne Dalrymple all received awards recognising more than five years on the frontline.
Mrs Keech said the awards were a fitting acknowledgement of the workers’ contribution to the community.
"These are people who have dedicated their lives to helping vulnerable children and young people," she said.
"They have one of the toughest jobs in government, dealing with sensitive and complex issues every day.
"But the staff tell me that what keeps them going is knowing that they are helping to make a difference in the lives of these children and giving them a brighter future.
"The Bligh Government is looking over the horizon and, through our new strategy Toward Q2, working towards a fairer Queensland with more caring, connected communities.
"Our staff have a vital role to play in achieving that goal, which is why I’m pleased to recognise these workers here today."
Clevelend MP Phil Weightman thanked the staff for their hard work in the region.
"Child Safety officers have an incredibly difficult job to do, and I’m proud to support the workers here in my electorate," he said.
"I applaud those staff for their dedication to protecting our region’s vulnerable children and young people.
"They make an important contribution to our community through the work they do helping keep our children safe.
"They are helping to secure the future of Queensland by ensuring our most precious assets – our children – are loved, safe and protected."
